1–2 years of construction experience preferred, with underground utility, excavation, pipe, trenching, or heavy civil construction experience preferred
Ability to follow direction from Foremen, Leadmen, Pipelayers, Operators, and other experienced crew members
Basic understanding of underground utility materials, tools, and jobsite conditions preferred
Willingness to learn pipe types, fittings, trench safety, bedding, compaction, grade, utility markings, and safe work around excavation
Ability to use basic hand tools, small power tools, measuring tape, and layout tools under supervision
Strong awareness of safety, including PPE use, trench hazards, traffic control, confined space awareness, silica exposure, and equipment movement
Physical strength, stamina, reliability, teamwork, and willingness to work outdoors in demanding conditions
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, lift, carry, push, pull, shovel, compact material, handle pipe and fittings, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
Must be able to regularly lift up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance
Must maintain situational awareness while working near trenches, excavation edges, equipment, suspended loads, underground utilities, and active roadways

Must own tools applicable to position
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
Experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics
Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
EPA 608 certification is preferred. If you do not already have the certification, you should be able to obtain it within 6-12 months of employment.
High School diploma, Trade school certificate preferred
Experience in equipment service, maintenance and repair preferred
Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
