Welder III
Minimum certification to include Material Groups IIa (stainless steel), IV (aluminum), V (magnesium), 4130 (Steel) and Inconel
Welder III: Performs a combination of Gas tungsten arc welding, GTAW and/or TIG welding on aircraft parts. Processes to fabricate or repair parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys.
Must successfully complete Chromium Physical
Performs minor repair operations, including helicoil installation, flushing, grit blasting, vapor degreasing, repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes, chipping off excess weld, slag and spatter, etc., utilizing basic machining equipment
Positions and clamps work piece together to assemble them in jig or fixture
Applies filler rod manually to supply weld metal
Maintains minimum 80% billable efficiency
Tacks assemblies together
TIG welding experience is required
Continuously pursues lean initiative toward process improvements
Skill to: Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
Prepares broken parts for welding by prepping surfaces per standard practices
Thorough knowledge of: ASW D17.1
Successfully pass annual regulatory vision requirements
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
Skill to: Operate basic machining equipment
Obtain respiratory certification and wear a face respirator
Thorough knowledge of: Microsoft Office Basics
