Yard Helper to assist with the safe loading and unloading of material, delivery of materials to job sites, maintaining consistent inventory levels, manage workload and follow organizational initiatives throughout the yard
Deliver material to specific job sites, as required, may require some out-of-town travel
Accept load sheets (pick tickets) from the dispatcher and coordinate with the Yard Supervisor the proper trailer and tractor to use
Load required items on the pick ticket
Communicate over or under capacity loads to dispatch, as well as any changes from pick ticket
Transport all finished goods to their proper place and stacked safely, by forklift
Inform dispatch or mechanic of any mechanical, electrical, or structural defects found on any trailers or tractors, including yard forklifts and yard equipment that would affect the use of or transportation of any Vee-Jay products
Maintain the yard inventory in an organized manner, on a daily basis, by making sure all goods are stored in the proper place; inform the Yard Manager or dispatcher of any low inventories detected
Carry out employment duties in accordance with applicable safety rules and procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Knowledge of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures required
Ability to correctly use and read a tape measure, and read/understand job-related blueprints, required
4+ Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired
Ability to read drawings and blueprints accurately
Able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts
Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files
Must be dependable, dedicated to completing work assignments correctly, and use time wisely
Adept at problem-solving. Adaptable to new situations and challenges. Open to changes and new ideas
