Four years experience which provides knowledge of:
Working on parts which require holding to exacting tolerances when necessary, determine trim lines from blueprints or templates.
Aircraft sheet metal hand finishing, bending, forming, using routers, circular saws, power brakes to form, pierce, contour, or straighten metal parts and power rolls to contour sheet metal extrusions, and structural tubing.
Run, program and set up, numerically controlled brakes, water jets, slip roll, rotary shapers, hydro press, punch press and, to perform and operation within their capacity to cut, shape and drill flat and formed sheet metal and extrusion stock.
Makes minor adjustments when the machines perform improperly.
Documented heat treat experience with familiarity of processes such as annealing, normalizing, quenching, check and straightening.
Completion of a high-quality industrial-based machine shop training program which is typically 800-1600 training hours in duration would offset six months of the four-year requirement.
Employee must be able to read and interpret detail and assembly blueprints and understand heat treat specifications and nomenclature.

To set up and operate machine tools as required.
To read and interpret complex blueprints and sketches; to use shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
To work to exacting tolerances.
To manually pull, push or lift over 25 lbs.
Three years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker.
Completion of a high quality industrial based Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship program. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) Certified Apprenticeship programs are typically 8,000 hours in duration.
Completion of a high quality industrial based Tool & Die Maker Training program. These programs should be typically 6,000 - 8,000 hours in duration and be similar in curriculum and standards as the above.
